Workstation Management

Do you want unlimited support for all of your staff?  This includes Microsoft Office issues in addition to any issues with the workstation itself.   Your staff can contact us directly!  Please inquire if there are other applications, such as QuickBooks, that you would like to have included as well.  For clients who need support outside of normal business hours we have a M-S 7×24.  Note that workstations need to be under a manufacturers warranty to be included in this plan.

Workstation Maintenance

Our workstation maintenance plan is a very affordable way to keep your desktops running optimally.  The increase in performance will pay for itself generally in one day!

  • Evaluate configuration of the Workstation against our ATA Best Practice Audit Guide to ensure proper configuration.

  • Workstation is monitored 24x7x365 for critical issues which might affect health, performance, or connectivity – including disk space, system logs and services.

  • Complete health dashboard is provided to our staff for every protected computer which can significantly reduce the time to resolve an issue.

  • Antivirus will be monitored on a daily basis and reports will be provided to demonstrate protection.

  • Windows patches, which have undergone an approval process prior to deployment, installed on a regular basis.

  • Remote access direct to the desktop is included which lowers our .5 hour minimum service to .25 hours.

  • Temporary file deletion and Internet debris removal.

  • Regular defragmentation and frequently used data will be stored where it can be retrieved quicker.

  • S.M.A.R.T. monitoring (helps predict possible hard disk failure).

  • Antivirus license is included.

  • World’s best anti-spam solution is also included.

  • Workstation asset management information is documented.
Server Management

For clients who want to budget for technology and don’t want a bill for doing 10 hours of work to fix a server issue, consider our server management plan which is an all inclusive server support plan.  Everything is covered with the server, operating system and server applications such as Active Directory, DHCP and DNS. The only caveats are custom applications, including SQL and Exchange, which are considered separately.  Acts of God are also not included.

Server Maintenance

Servers need to be well maintained in order to work optimally.   If they have problems, we need to know…immediately.  They play such a crucial role in most businesses that small performance issues on the server can result in very costly issues across the environment when salary and hourly staff are adversely affected.

Not all servers are equal. In our minds there are “good” servers and boxes that shouldn’t be referred to as a server.  A good server has redundant hard drives, is under warranty, ideally has redundant power supplies and also a remote access card such as a DRAC (Dell Remote Access Card) or HP iLO (Integrated Lights Out) card which allows us to access the server even when it is turned off.

Here is what is included with Server Maintenance:

  • Evaluate configuration of the Server against our ATA Best Practice Audit Guide to ensure proper configuration.

  • Server is monitored 24x7x365 for critical issues which might affect health, performance, or connectivity – including disk space, system logs and services.

  • If any issues are reported we will be alerted to fix the issue immediately.

  • Antivirus license is included in price and regular scans outside of normal business hours will occur.

  • Antivirus will be monitored on a daily basis and reports will be provided to demonstrate protection.

  • Reboots will occur after hours on a regular basis.

  • Complete health dashboard is provided to our staff for every protected computer which can significantly reduce the time to resolve an issue.

  • If issues with a maintenance reboot occurs it will be covered under this agreement.

  • Windows patches, which have undergone an approval process prior to deployment, installed on a regular basis.

  • Regular defragmentation and frequently used data will be stored where it can be retrieved quicker on the hard disk platters.

  • S.M.A.R.T. monitoring (helps predict possible hard disk failure).

  • Server asset management information is documented and we are alerted to maintain warranty status.

  • Critical OS updates with lab-tested patches, AV license (optional), AV monitoring, scheduled reboots, and automated defragmentation

  • Checklist maintenance, tuning, and performance optimization

  • All inclusive business hours support including hardware issues provided hardware is covered by warranty

Business Continuity

While we will support any vendor supported backup solution, such as Backup Exec, ArcServe BrightStor, Yosemite and others, we have two solutions that we love for servers. StorageCraft and our proprietary ATA Business Continuity Solution.

All backup plans include:

  • Unlimited restores (does not include full system restores, these are included under Managed Server plans).

  • Daily verification and regular backup testing.

  • Backup documentation, including licensing, diagram and configuration.

  • Renewal of support with the backup software vendor.

  • Any issues identified during monitoring are resolved immediately as part of the service.

  • Test file restores are done on a quarterly basis as a further layer of protection.  Our backups are image-based, enabling fast and full recovery from even catastrophic disk failure.

  • When software updates are released by the vendor they will be installed at no additional expense.
Budgeting and Planning

  • Covers Strategic Consultant discussions and e-mails

  • Annual meetings with the strategic consultant which can include a technology audit, business objectives review, hardware lifecycle review, and yearly budget assistance.  Semi-annual meetings with consultant to review service ticket history and environment health metrics.
Asset Management

  • An inventory management system that helps us manage all of your technology assets and makes the process of yearly budgeting much easier

  • Our proprietary solution architecture, which is a templated system, to document all aspects of your technology environment so that any of our staff will understand your environment

  • A yearly technology audit that we have spent years perfecting and encompasses all of the best practices that are applicable to your environment which ensures that your risk is as low as possible and that you are getting the absolute most from your technology environment

Standards

Since 1998 we have focused our energy on standards across the environment that we know from experience ensure high availability and lower risk which means you spend less money.  Here are some of those standards:

  • All Servers with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems must be running Windows 2003 Server or later, and have all of the latest Microsoft Service Packs and Critical Updates installed.

  • All Desktop PC’s and Notebooks/Laptops with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems must be running Windows XP Pro or later, and have all of the latest Microsoft Service Packs and Critical Updates installed.

  • All Server and Desktop Software must be Genuine, Licensed and Vendor-Supported.

  • The environment must have a currently licensed, up-to-date and Vendor-Supported Server-based Antivirus Solution protecting all Servers, Desktops, Notebooks/Laptops, and Email.

  • The environment must have a currently licensed, Vendor-Supported Server-based Backup Solution.

  • The environment must have a currently licensed, Vendor-Supported Hardware Firewall between the Internal Network and the Internet.

  • Any Wireless data traffic in the environment must be secured with a minimum of WPA data encryption, WPA2 or WPA with Radius preferred.
Software Management

We offer complete software support including vendor support. We can take care of configurations and issues while you continue to work.

SQL Management

If you have applications that use Microsoft SQL as a database engine we highly recommend maintaining it for the best performance possible.  This service includes:

  • Evaluate configuration of the SQL software against our ATA Best Practice Audit Guide to ensure proper configuration.

  • Running Microsoft Best Practice and Troubleshooting tools against SQL to ensure the highest performance possible.

  • Creating after hours database maintenance plans that provide redundant backup, integrity checks and optimizations on a regular basis.

  • Watching SQL logs for errors

  • Running test restores of the databases to ensure SQL backups are working correctly.

  • Includes M-F 8×5 full remote support to address any issues with the SQL databases.

Exchange Management

Microsoft Exchange is the most popular business class e-mail system available.  Like any system it requires maintenance to perform optimally.  This service includes:

  • Evaluate configuration of the Exchange software against our ATA Best Practice Audit Guide to ensure proper configuration.

  • Running Microsoft Best Practice and Troubleshooting tools against the Exchange database to ensure the highest performance possible.

  • Running redundant backups of the Exchange database.

  • Optimizing the database by performing after hours, off-line defragmentation of the exchange database.

  • Restoration of individual mailboxes included.
