Ben Allen

Founder and President

Ben Allen loved working with computers since age 7 (1977) when Commodore came out with the PET computer that utilized a cassette tape loading device, predating the VIC 20 by almost 3 years. He continued having an acute interest in computers, attending Computer Camps in Ann Arbor, Michigan, becoming comfortable with software such as WordStar and Visicalc and designing databases at age 16 for non-profit organizations.

While he majored in English Composition at DePauw University, in Greencastle, Indiana, he continued to take programming classes and after graduation spent six months doing an apprenticeship in Southern California with an MIT 4.0 graduate who had built up his own business technology consulting company. This gave him the experience to get a job with Price Waterhouse in Chicago where he served in a help desk capacity. He received the first ever office-wide administrative award for the creation of a database linking Human Resources, the mail room, the technology department and the different business units.

He changed hats and helped GE Capital Railcar setup a help desk system for one year and then returned back to Price Waterhouse in Denver where he managed the network and provided technical assistance to staff. He then joined an elite group of 10 individuals who were responsible for implementing network and communication systems for the top 20 audit clients, including Pepsi, United Bank of Switzerland, Walt Disney, NCR and Hewlett Packard. He then was promoted to Business Technology Liaison which positioned him between the Price Waterhouse CIO and the Audit Business Unit, responsible for providing overall management of all technology business cases and leveraging technology between the different business units. He built the 12 step process tool for managing all technology business cases across the worldwide firm.

He left Price Waterhouse when the merger with Coopers and Lybrand occurred in 1998 and formed Allen Technology Advising (ATA) on July 17th, 1998. ATA’s first IT partnership was with Clear Creek County Sheriff and remains a client to this day.

In addition to running the business Ben has a huge heart for volunteering in his community and internationally:

  • After 14 years in business took a 7 month sabbatical in Tanzania where he mentored Tanzanians in the technology profession and helped the Selian Lutheran Hospital with projects such as allowing doctors around the world secure access to all of the x-rays, MRIs and ultrasounds so that they could advise the local doctors

  • Spent seven weeks in Tanzania with his wife and four children in November of 2008 volunteering his time to setup the network and software at the brand new Selian Lutheran Hospital, helping Africaid by visiting our student (www.africaid.com), working with the PlasterHouse and updating everyone with our Blog (see more here allensinarusha.blogspot.com)

  • Spent five weeks in the Dominican Republic with his wife and four children in 2005 sharing a program in Spanish on the benefits of hand washing with almost 1500 kids in nine schools

  • Evergreen Rotary Member since 1999 and Youth Exchange chair from 1999 through 2007 and 2009 through the present

  • Member of the Rotary District 5450 Youth Exchange Committee and Co-Creator of the most awesome District Youth Exchange Web site.

  • Member of the Rotary District 5450 New Generations Committee

  • Member of the Evergreen Chamber Marketing Committee

  • Member of the Evergreen Chamber Ambassador Committee

  • Board member of Institute for Attachment and Child Development from 2004 through 2007

In addition to his business and volunteering he is passionate about his children, as well as his wife, who is a world class triathlete and CEO of Allen Technology Advising! In 2009 she received a 6th in the world in her age group.

 Kathleen Allen

Chief Executive Officer

Kathleen (then Macdonald) met Ben Allen in a bar in 1993 on campus at DePauw University where she was working on her undergraduate degree. Kathleen majored in anthropology with a double minor in sociology and psychology. She graduated with honors in 1994 and after a year as a research assistant, pursued a Master’s degree in social science at the University of Chicago. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1995 and married Ben Allen later that same year. After spending many years dedicated to raising their four children Jessica (20), Stephen (18), Mack (16) and Zoe (13) , Kathleen returns to Allen Technology Advising with a passion for growth. Her talents are concentrated in sales and marketing, specifically searching for amazing companies that want to partner with Allen Technology Advising’s incredible technicians!

Kathleen also has a passion for endurance sports and fitness. She is a certified personal trainer, training clients and teaching a variety of group fitness classes at Evergreen Parks and Recreation. She is a competitive triathlete, competing in numerous triathlons of every distance, including 3 full Ironman races (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run). Kathleen has qualified for the ITU World Championship team four times and will be representing the United States in both the Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons in Rotterdam in the Netherlands in September 2017.

“I like to think of our company and clients as one big family!” Kathleen says. She brings her love and maternal nature to employees and clients with her delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies. If you have not tried them yet, feel free to ask for some – Kathleen would love to bake you a batch!

 Patrick O’Fallon

Chief Information Officer

Patrick O’Fallon actually started with Allen Technology Advising in 1999 as an intern while at Evergreen High School. He went to get his degree at Regis University and came back to Allen Technology Advising in 2004. Patrick is an instrumental part of our success with clients. Patrick is a visionary within ATA and he is great at pin pointing issues and offering solid solutions to resolve them.

Finding and vetting new technology for our clients is one of Patrick’s primary roles. He works with partners and potential partners to make sure we are able to offer our clients great deals and the leading edge technology recommendations they have come to expect from ATA. He also helps our team design networks and security solutions as our lead network engineer.

Patrick is also known for being a musician. He is what you might call a bucket banger (drummer) but he seems to be able to play any instrument he picks up. He has supported his talented and wonderful wife Janessa’s singing with his background bucket banging and playing other instruments.

Patrick’s passion for performance and attention to detail from the operations to implementing new technology has really been a driving force to ATA’s success since he has been with the company.

Ryan Curtis

Chief Operations Officer

Ryan Curtis is a native Coloradoan, growing up in Evergreen, Colorado. Ryan played football and baseball for Evergreen High School and Conifer High School, and after graduating from CHS, he attended Mesa State College, where he graduated with a BS in Environmental Engineering/Science.

Ryan is highly skilled in organizational management, much of which he learned while working as a manager during college. After meeting his wife at Mesa State, they moved back to Denver and Ryan worked for Kohl’s Department Stores as Freight Manager and then Customer Service Manager; during which time his store was ranked in the top 20 in ‘Service’ in the entire company.

Ryan met Allen Technology Advising’s CEO, Ben Allen, at his own wedding to Juliana and soon came to work for ATA as the company’s Business Manager. Ryan’s integral management role keeps the team’s skills and operations running smoothly and includes employment/human resources, office management, account management, technical documentation, technical recruiting, contract management, and internal systems implementation and design.

Denise Noyer

Office Manager/Finance Manager

After the sale of her business in 2012 Denise stayed on for a year to implement the transition to the new company; the employment agreement ending in May 2013. Denise then began the process of searching for another position. The path that brought her to ATA was pure fate. An ATA salesman was meeting with the General Manager of an ATA client, Dan Noyes, (who happened to be her husband), and mentioned they were looking for someone with QuickBooks experience. Dan quickly replied that Denise was looking for a job. As she was acquainted with most of the staff at ATA she was excited about an opportunity to be a part of the company.

As an officer of a small company Denise became used to dealing with new challenges on a regular basis and is known for staying calm and steady in difficult circumstances. With the help of an accounting professional and an accounting class at a local community college Denise developed the skills and knowledge needed to handle all the financial aspects of ATA – and discovered she enjoyed the accounting process. What she is most proud of is the culture we created in our company of putting our employees first and the relationships that developed over the years.

 Paul Miller

Chief Technical Officer

Paul has over sixteen years experience in the Information Technology field, serving as Network Administrator for Engineered Data Products, System Administrator with UGPTI Transportation Safety Systems Center, Owner/Consultant for Link Dynamics, and Lead Engineer for Allen Technology Advising. Paul has professional affiliations with Cisco Partner, Microsoft Partner, Watchguard Partner, CCNA and MCP+Internet.

Paul’s educational background includes Regis University, New Horizon Learning Center, and Front Range Community College; where he developed his broad range of expertise in network design, network support, server setup, server maintenance, account management, security, firewall, VPN, virtual environments, business continuity, back-ups, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, hardware support, software support, troubleshooting, new technology research, project management and budget management.

As a Chief Technical Officer with Allen Technology Advising, Paul is our go-to-person for the most intricate and challenging IT issues. If there is a problem or need for any type of IT support, Paul provides exceptional full service company solutions with 100% client satisfaction.

Chad Netherton

Technical Service Manager

Chad has long desired a career in the IT industry and has always enjoyed fixing things, especially electronics. He had worked in the tech world on and off previously. ATA Found chad through a recommendation from our CIO Patrick O’Fallon, who had met Chad through his wife.

Chadwick, as we call him in the office, is our resident nerd…a role he admittedly plays in his personal life with his friends, as well. He has always been into comics and video games, but he also loves the outdoors. Chad often says, “Nothing beats living in Colorado”. He enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, and taking trips to the mountains. He is also our craft beer connoisseur in case you ever need a good recommendation.

He has always had a knack for solving problems, especially of the technical variety. He actually picked these skills up as a young kid learning how his Nintendo NES worked, and how to solve problems he ran into with it. Some technical advice from Chad on the old NES games…“Blowing in the cartridge really doesn’t do anything”.

Chad is passionate about working with technology. He enjoys getting to see and play with all the latest software and hardware, as well as getting to build up and deploy new computers and servers. Chad says, “Most of all I love that I get to learn something new almost every single day I go into work. I also love getting to travel to our clients offices and visit face to face with our customers.” He is passionate about service excellence, being there for our clients to lean on when they’re in trouble, and loves the feeling of making sure their workdays go as smooth as possible.

Murphy Thompson


Murphy started off his IT career in 2010 at Colorado State University studying computer information systems and computer science. He did a full year of ROTC before enlisting in the Army Reserves as an information technology specialist and multichannel transmission systems operator-maintainer. He deployed to Africa under Operation Enduring Freedom in 2014 as a cryptographic manager and IT sergeant. Upon returning to the United States, Murphy joined the Allen IT team as a help desk technician.

When not at work, Murphy spends a majority of his time outdoors with his service dog Mal. He enjoys working out, building things, researching interesting topics, and playing pool.

Murphy takes pride in his customer service skills, and his ability to handle stressful situations while staying calm. He gives his all to this company and sees the other people at ATA not as coworkers, but members of his family.

Jordan Arvik

Quality Control Specialist

Jordan joined the Allen Technology Advising team in December 2015, after working for 13 years in the commercial property management industry. He is a graduate of Evergreen High School and a U.S. Army veteran, having worked as a saxophone player in the Army band.

As Quality Control Specialist, Jordan serves dual functions of front line technical assistance and customer service. By helping to ensure that our customers are aligned with best practices and standards, and making recommendations for needed technology upgrades, Jordan works to keep our customers operating efficiently. He coordinates with our help desk to see that customers’ issues are resolved in a timely manner.

Jordan is a film buff, known for his uncanny ability to quote movie lines. He also enjoys rooting on our local Denver-area teams (especially the Colorado Avalanche), playing poker, golfing (badly), snowboarding, and video gaming.
